Mail Forwarding

How It Works:

Worldwide Mail Forwarding

When contacting us with mail forwarding instructions, there are a few things to consider:

By Mail— If you are writing from a remote area where mail service is slow (e.g.: Mexico, Central America or the South Pacific), allow plenty of time for your letter to reach us and for our response. An Air Mail letter from the South Pacific can take three weeks to reach us. Make sure your forwarding instructions are very clear and explicit, because in most cases we won’t be able to question you.

By Telephone— Please remember the time difference (San Diego is GMT –8), our office hours and U.S. holidays. Since we forward every Friday, we need any changes before 10AM local time. Our answering machine is always on.

What We Forward:

We forward only first class letter mail by air, unless otherwise instructed. We can’t forward packages unless we know the contents so we can make the necessary customs declaration. We strongly suggest using FedEx, UPS or DHL for international shipment of packages like spare parts, since transit time is much faster than the U.S. Postal Service, and the couriers handle some of the customs procedures for you.

Please tell your friends NOT to ship any food items, hazardous materials (e.g.: paint), medicines/drugs, tobacco, firearms, pressurized items, flowers or live animal because we can’t forward them. Please contact us for more details, or you can look at these content restrictions links for USPS, FedEx and UPS.
